I was recently doing my morning devotions when I was taken to Isaiah 52:7. How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of those who bring good news, who proclaim peace, and bring good tidings, who proclaim salvation, who say to Zion, “Your God reigns.”
Good news, we could all use a little good news. Good news that one day soon this virus will be under control. Good news that people will be at work. Good news that peace will reign the streets. Good news that racial injustice will be a thing of the past. Amidst the chaos of the day the words “Your God reigns” brings hope and builds perseverance for those who belong to Him.
It may seem all reason has left the building, but God is still at work. He moves in the hearts of those who call out to Him. “Heavenly Father, I call out to you. Have mercy on this hurting world. Move in my heart God, that I may bring the gift of peace, the gift of good tidings and tell others about your Son, Jesus Christ, the salvation of the world.”
I’ve been reading a book from Beth Moore, Chasing Vines. She writes of the hurts each of us will suffer along life’s journey. How it is inevitable to escape. The pain of loosing a loved one. The death of a dream. She is pretty much saying, life with all it’s messy bits matter. It matters to God and it changes our life.
All of it will be used to form and shape a new normal. Somethings may look different. But out of it, comes a new thing. Press on faithful believers. Right now, God calls us to bring His love to all who come in our path.
