Dear Siblings in Christ,
 
It was a delight to hear that you, too, have discerned that I am called to serve with you. In our Church, call/vocation involves both internal discernment of the one being called, and the affirmation of a person’s call from the wider community of faith. Over the months to come, we will together explore and discover what God has in mind for us for this new season of ministry we are joined in community.
 
Pastor Matt has been with you a significant amount of time, and strong bonds have grown between you. While “you’ve always known” that his time with you was limited, after so long together it is important that you mark well all that comes with a transition of separation. I will pray for you all as you live into your goodbyes, both celebrating what has been between you and grieving his leavetaking. The grieving that comes with letting go is not comfortable, and it is important to name and honor as you move toward new beginnings with me. Know that I realize that grieving and letting go takes the time it takes and that I, too, will honor the process as it continues after I arrive. 
 
I am excited to begin ministry with you, very much looking forward to hearing your stories and learning what is important to you in both your life as St Paul, and your individual lives. It will also be satisfying for you to get to know me (and my husband John). I ask for your prayers that we locate a temporary rental for us in Castle Rock, Kelso, or Longview (and note any rentals that might be available around you) so that we might transition north and prepare to sell our condo in Vancouver. Thank you for those prayers!
 
Until we begin with St Paul in October, we hold you in prayer.
